Hi! I’m Rebecca.

Learning to see changed the way I experience life.

It Started on the Water

The Art of Noticing didn't begin with a camera. It began with slowing down. I never expected a kayak and a camera to change the way I experienced life. At first, I slipped onto the lake simply to photograph sunrise and sunset. But something unexpected happened. Out there, I wasn't worrying about yesterday or planning tomorrow. I was completely present. I was alive and awake to everything around me.

Learning to Notice

As I drifted across the water, I became curious. I noticed where the morning light landed, how the colors shifted across the lake, and the scent carried on the air. I began seeing tiny details most people would pass without noticing. Sometimes a floating leaf, feather, or piece of nature would drift into a reflection and, with a single ripple, become something entirely new. It felt like discovering hidden worlds that had been there all along.

Photography Changed Me

That's when I realized photography wasn't teaching me how to make images. It was teaching me how to pay attention. The camera became more than a creative tool. It became an invitation to slow down, become present, and experience the world with curiosity instead of distraction. Over time, that practice changed more than my photography.

  • It changed the way I went on walks.

  • The way I listened.

  • The way I experienced ordinary moments.

  • The way I experienced my daily life.

Photography taught me how to pay attention. Paying attention changed the way I live.

Why I Created Outsia

The more I practiced this way of seeing, the more I wanted to share it. I realized people weren't simply looking for beautiful places to photograph. Many were longing for something deeper—a chance to slow down, reconnect with nature, reconnect with themselves, and remember what it feels like to be fully present.

That's why I created Outsia.

What I Hope You Discover

You don't need to be a photographer. You don't need expensive equipment. You only need a willingness to slow down. Whether we're walking a quiet trail, sitting beside the water, or exploring through a camera, my hope is that you'll leave seeing more than you did when you arrived.
